Hands-Only CPR Mobile Tour
Free event to teach the 2 steps to save a life
Brookfield Cares is excited to bring the Hands-Only CPR Mobile Tour to Brookfield Place tomorrow, Thurs., Sept. 14. This interactive tour - presented by the American Heart Association and supported by Empire BlueCross BlueShield Foundation - will teach Hands-Only CPR to familiar songs that are 100-120 beats per minute, which is the rate you should push on the chest during CPR. We invite you to get trained during a free, 30-minute session that will be held outdoors in the Lower Plaza.
The training session times are:
- 10 a.m.
- 11 a.m.
- 1 p.m.
- 2 p.m.
The tour will have the following features:
- AED Learning Lab: This interactive station shows users how to properly use an automated external defibrillator, or AED.
- Hands-Only CPR Learning Labs: These instructional stations will provide an opportunity to learn Hands-Only CPR on high fidelity manikins, or rubber torsos, that are connected to touch screen laptops. Participants can practice Hands-Only CPR on the manikins and do a test session that will generate a score and provide real-time feedback on their training.
- Social Media Stations: Visitors can post about their training experience and share information about Hands-Only CPR via social media stations throughout the event.
- Passport: Each participant will receive a Passport that will help them track the activities they complete such as using the Learning Labs. Then, they can submit their Passport at the end of their Mobile Tour experience to be entered to win a prize.
We encourage you to please take 30 minutes of your day to learn Hands-Only CPR. Why? 70 percent of sudden cardiac arrests happen in private or residential settings. Statistically speaking, if you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love: a spouse, a parent, a co-worker, a child or a friend.
