ESCORT // DARCY JAMES ARGUE’S SECRET SOCIETY

Saturday, August 25, 2012
7 - 9pm

WFC Plaza

The Grammy-nominated 18-piece steampunk big band, Darcy James Argue's Secret Society, joins forces with Escort, creators of "the best disco album of 2011" (SPIN), for a night of groove-based music in a variety of shapes and sizes. Argue, one of the most acclaimed young jazz composers active today off the strength of his debut album, Infernal Machines and his recent evening-length followup at BAM's Next Wave Festival, Brooklyn Babylon, will create new arrangements for the combined ensembles, while both groups will draw off each others' members to augment their own bands, filling the stage with some of the most talented instrumentalists working in New York today.

A production of New Amsterdam Presents in association with the Kaufman Center.

Ecstatic™ Summer extends the programming mission of the Ecstatic Music Festival, presented each winter by the Kaufman Center and curated by New Amsterdam co-director Judd Greenstein, into the summer months, reaching new audiences and bringing together exciting new musical collaborations from around the world of music.
