9/4/12: Construction Update - Glass Pavilion Columns Installed at WFC New Front Entrance

The site of the new glass pavilion as of 8/31/12

Construction of a new glass pavilion at the World Financial Center continues to move forward as the installation of exposed steel tube basket column structures nears completion. The "baskets" are made of more than one mile of tubing and consist of three sections. The final piece of each column will be installed next week.

The pavilion will serve as the complex’s new front door, welcoming workers, visitors and residents as they emerge from (and enter into) the Fulton Street and World Trade Center Transit Hubs. The pavilion will be the western terminus of the highly anticipated east-west underground pedestrian passageway in Lower Manhattan that spans one-half mile. Construction of the glass pavilion will be completed in Fall 2013.
